Gladstone is a charming town located on Little Bay de Noc in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. My boys and I have taken many memorable trips to this beautiful area, and the design reflects the timeless beauty of its landscape—the rhythmic waves of the bay, the sturdy pine trees, and the winding trails that line the shore. This beanie captures all of that in its texture: intricate cables that twist and turn like the paths we've explored together. Knit in North Bay Fiber's Elemental Worsted, and offered in 3 sizes, Gladstone has a relaxed feel and unisex style.

YARN:
RECOMMENDED: North Bay Fiber, Elemental Worsted (100% domestic Cormo wool; 205yd/187m per 100g); 1 (1, 1) skein
OR: Worsted weight yarn in the following amount: Approx 158 (173, 189)yds /144 (157, 172)m
Sample 1 is a size medium and in Gill Plate.
Sample 2 is a size medium and in Green Cottage.
Sample 3 is size small in color Caddis.
GAUGE:
• 24 sts x 30 rnds = 4"/10 cm in cable pattern, worked in the round and blocked
NEEDLES:
Needles listed are suggested. Always take time to swatch.
• Gauge Needle: Size US 7 (4.5 mm) 16"/40cm circular needles and DPNs—or size necessary to obtain gauge
• Smaller Needle: Size US 5 (3.75 mm) 16"/40 cm circular needles — or one two sizes smaller than gauge needle
TOOLS:
Stitch marker(s), cable needle, and tapestry needle
NOTES:
• Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up.
• Both written and charted instructions are provided.
• Placing stitch markers between your chart repeats is advised to keep your knitting organized.
• When decreasing for crown, switch to DPNs when necessary for ease of knitting.
• Chart repeats 4 times per round for all sizes
